You Can’t Improve On Perfection
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
I. His Way is Perfect
· Psalms 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Man has been looking for another way ever since the Garden of Eden.
God’s way is perfect, but man keeps looking for a more perfect way.
· Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
· Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
· Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
II. His Word is Perfect
SEE Psalm 19
· 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
· 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
· 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
· 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
· 1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
2 Timothy 3
· 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
· 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
III. His Will is Perfect
· Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
· Colossians 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
Speaking of God’s will, notice these verses:
1 Timothy 2
· 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
· 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
· 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Conclusion: The blessing that David was writing about is found a few verses after our text.
· 32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
Imagine a God - Who’s way is perfect - being able to make our way perfect!!
What a blessing! But hang on a minute!
There can only be ONE perfect way.
So, what is the secret?
I believe David tells us that in verse 21:
· 20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
· 21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
KEY TRUTH: Psalm 119:59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
