All Things New
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Intro: This past Wednesday night, I made a statement that I can’t get away from. I said that missionaries to third-world countries are not the only ones that experience culture shock. I said that new Christians experience culture shock after they get saved.
The same God that created the heavens and the earth is the one behind this supernatural work.
· Revelation 21:5 “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
· “…behold, all things are become new.”
Remember when everything became new?
Notice the text: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
A. The Established Condition – if any man be in Christ
This is the indispensable criteria for this verse.
Being “in Christ” is the only way these changes will occur.
· Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
B. The Essential Creation – he is a new creature
NOTE: God’s babies don’t look anything like the devil’s babies.
New Creature is the result of the New Birth!
Galatians 6
· 14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
· 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
C. The Eventual Cancellation – old things are passed away
I’m so glad that God doesn’t leave us like He found us!!
He didn’t just change our destination – He changes everything!
There’s something bad wrong with a Gospel that only changes your eternal destination and nothing else.
And He’s not in the remodel business.
He doesn’t just slap a Band-aid on us and go to the next person.
One by one, the “old things” start dying off.
They are no longer “the norm.”
They are no longer appealing and desirable.
The born-again child of God will no longer find satisfaction in the “old things.”
They will be drinking from a new fountain.
The old language and vocabulary start to fall away.
The old friends start to walk away.
The old habits start to die off.
D. The Exciting Confirmation – all things are become new
It is obvious. People will notice something is different.
Some people won’t believe you are the same person.
John 9:6-9
· 7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
· 8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
· 9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
Similar thing happened to the demonic of Gadera.
Luke 8
· 35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
· 36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

I. A New Message
Mars Hill – READ Acts 17:19-23
There’s not a message like the Gospel.
There’s no message like the Word of God being taught and preached.
There is no message like the message that Jesus Christ brought.
John 7
· 43 So there was a division among the people because of him.
· 44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
· 45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?
· 46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.
They had never heard anything like it.
People today still haven’t heard anything like it.
The message is unprecedented and unparalleled.
It is the only message that can bring divine regeneration.
The New Message produced…
II. A New Man
· John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
· John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
· 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Ephesians 4
· 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
· 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
· 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Colossians 3
· 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
· 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
The New Man now has…
III. A New Master
· John 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
1 Corinthians 6
· 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
· 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 7
· 22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.
· 23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
· 24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.
The New Master is now issuing…
IV. New Mandates
If your “new birth” experience didn’t come with new mandates, you were stillborn.
The first thing Jesus told the disciples was “Follow me.”
Two thousand years later, Jesus is still telling new Christians to follow Him.
If God’s is not commanding you to follow Him, you didn’t get saved.
God has never saved a person and let them keep on serving the Devil and following Satan’s orders.
· Mark 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
The New Mandates will be obeyed because of…
V. New Motivations
Look at our text: 2 Corinthians 5
A. Motivated by the Standards of God
· 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
We need to be reminded that WE have already been accepted, but our works must meet His standards.
· Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
B. Motivated by the Judgment Seat of God
· 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
C. Motivated by the Terror of God
· 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
D. Motivated by our Love for God
· John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
E. Motivated by what Glorifies God
1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
