When He Shall Appear
1 John 3:2
Intro: Jesus promised He would return in John 14.
The angels promised He would return in Acts 1.
Anticipating His return brings:
A. A Consecration
· 1 John 3:3 “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”
B. A Crown
· 2 Timothy 4:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
C. A Comfort
· 1 Thessalonians 4:18 “Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
I. The Scoffing will be Put to Rest
2 Peter 3
· 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
· 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
II. The Sin will be Prohibited
The second the rapture occurs, our battle with the flesh is over.
I Cor. 15:39…
III. The Saints will be Perfected
1 Cor. 15:51-57
· Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
· In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
· 1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
IV. The Savior will be Preeminent
· 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
No more Laodicean Church age where he is standing outside the door knocking.
No more quenching the Holy Spirit.
No more grieving the Holy Spirit.
No more putting self on the throne of your heart.
It’s going to be all about him.
