It Is High Time - Pastor Stacey Shiflett

It Is High Time

Romans 13

·        11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

·        12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

I. It is High Time for Energizing

The Apostle Paul was stressing the lateness of the hour; the importance of knowing what time it is.

A. The Awareness that is Unmistaken – knowing the time

I honestly do not understand how anybody that is supposed to be saved cannot know what time it is.

Matthew 16

·        2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

·        3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

B. The Apathetic that are Unawakenedit is high time to awake out of sleep

Never in the history of the church has there been so much apathy and complacency.

My life pretty much involves me trying to get everybody I know to do more, and everybody I know it trying to get me to do less.

C. The Action that is Undertaken

It is two-fold:

1.      let us therefore cast off the works of darkness…

2.      and let us put on the armour of light

II. It is High Time for Endeavoring

·        John 7:6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

·        John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

III. It is High Time for Evangelizing

·        John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

2 Corinthians 5

·        18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

·        19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

·        20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

·        21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Chapter 6

·        1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

·        2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
