He’s Held Up His End
1 Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
Intro: The message this morning is a tribute to the faithfulness of our God.
God has always kept His promise.
God has always done what He said He would do.
God has always help up His end of the bargain.
A. The Reputation – “Faithful is he…”
Over and over again, the Word of God reminds us of the FAITHFULNESS of God.
· Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
· 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
B. The Recruiting – “…that calleth you…”
C. The Reassuring – “…who also will do it.”
Never has He failed me.
Not once has He let me down.
Not once has He left me hanging.
I’ve come up short on my end many times.
But He’s always held up His end.
He’s Held Up His End on the Call to…
I. Salvation
· 1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
I remember when He first called me unto salvation.
He promised to save me; and He did.
· Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
· John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
He promised to change me. And He did.
Titus 3
· 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
· 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
· 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
He promised to give me the Holy Spirit. And He did.
John 14
· 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
· 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
· 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Ephesians 1
· 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
· 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
He promised to keep me secure.
John 10
· 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
· 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

II. Supplication
He promised me that if I would call unto Him, He would answer me.
· Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
He promised me that if I would ask, He would give it.
Matthew 7
· 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
· 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
· John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
1 John 5
· 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
· 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

III. Sacrifice
Philippians 4
· 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
· 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
· Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

IV. Suffering
· 1 Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
· 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
· 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
He told me there would be suffering, and He was right.
But He also told me that His grace would be sufficient, and He’s held up His end.
He promised that it would make me stronger, and He was right.
He promised that after we had suffered awhile, that he would strengthen us and settle us.
· 1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

V. Service
Matthew 11
· 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
· 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
· 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
He promised me that serving Him would bring fulfillment, and He was right.
He promised I’d find rest for my soul, and I have.
