Eternally Secure
John 10
· 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
· 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
· 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Intro: One of the most blessed Doctrines in the Bible is the Doctrine of Eternal Security.
Without a doubt, being saved is the single greatest thing that can happen to a person.
But what good is it if it can be taken away?
Knowing that we are saved is the source of tremendous joy and peace.
But that peace would not be possible without the promise of eternal security.
There are far too many people that profess to be Bible-believers that teach a child of God can lose their salvation.
We are going to preach a message on the fallacies of this teaching.
We will prove without a doubt from God’s Word that a born-again child of God is ETERNALLY SECURE!
We are Eternally Secure because of…
I. The Character of God’s Person
A. God is Omnipotent
Salvation is a work of God.
My security is also a work of God.
A God that has the power to SAVE has the power to SECURE.
· 2 Timothy 1:12 "...He is able to keep..."
· Jude 24 "...Him that is able to keep you..."
· Philippians 1:6 "...He which hath begun...will perform it..."
· 1 Peter 1:5 ...kept by the power of God."
· Hebrews 7:25 "..He is able also to save them to the uttermost."
B. God is Just
· Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
Our sins were paid for at Calvary.
For us to have to pay for them again after accepting Christ would be a mockery of God’s justice.
C. God is not Slack
· 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
God would never condemn a person to perish in Hell that came to him in repentance.

II. The Conditions of God’s Provision
A person that believes you can lose their salvation simply does not understand what salvation truly is!
A. Salvation is a Birth
John 3
· 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
· 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
When I got saved, I was born again. If I lose my salvation, am I unborn and lost again?
I was born into the family of God. If I lose my salvation, am I kicked out of the family of God and disowned?
B. Salvation is a Gift
Ephesians 2
· 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
· 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
· Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
C. Salvation is Fulfillment
· John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
When I got saved, I was told I shall never thirst. If I lose my salvation, do I get thirsty again?
When I got saved, I was given a well of water springing up. If I lose my salvation, does the well dry up?
· John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
D. Salvation is a Transformation
· 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
When I got saved, God made me a new creature. If I lose my salvation, does He make me an old creature again?
When I got saved, old things pass away. If I lose my salvation, does old things get resurrected?
When I got saved, all things are become new. If I lose my salvation, does all things become old again?
E. Salvation is Immediate
· John 3:16 …hath everlasting life…
· 1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; [and] he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
F. Salvation is Eternal Life
· 1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
· John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

III. The Confirmation of God’s Promises
A. The Bible says we are Preserved
· Jude 1 - Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and PRESERVED IN JESUS CHRIST, and called.
· Psalms 31:23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the LORD PRESERVETH THE FAITHFUL, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
B. The Bible says we are Sealed
· Ephesians 1:13,14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were SEALED with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
· Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are SEALED unto the day of redemption.
NOTE: This "sealing" is until the "day of redemption," not "until the day of backsliding.”
And even if we were sealed until the day of backsliding, where is that line in the sand?
If a child of God lost their salvation when they were backslid, what is the definition of “backslid?”
How backslid does one have to get to be lost again?
Stop praying?
Stop reading their Bible? For how long?
Stop going to church? For how long? How many services can you miss and still be saved?
What sin in particular? How many unconfessed sins would it take to lose your salvation?
C. The Bible says we are Secure
John 10
· 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
· 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and NO MAN IS ABLE to pluck them out of my Father's hand."
NO MAN includes you!
D. The Bible says we cannot be Separated
Romans 8
· 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
· 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
· 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
· 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
· 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Conclusion: The child of God is IN the Father:
· 1 Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
· 1 Thessalonians 1:1 …unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ:
The child of God is IN Christ:
· Ephesians 1:1 …to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
· Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Christ is IN the child of God:
· Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;
· Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
The Holy Spirit is IN the child of God, and so is God the Father:
John 14
· 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
· 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
· 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
The child of God belongs to Christ and Christ belongs to God.
· 1 Corinthians 3:23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.
We are as ETERNALLY SECURE as the Godhead itself!
If I can lose my salvation, my salvation is a WORKS BASED salvation.
